Hyawatha is a fresh, raw and honest sound from Jersey. After going their separate ways in college, four friends came back to Jersey and realized the only thing that made sense anymore was making music. Hyawatha has faced the uncertainties of every great band, the discouragement of family members, washing dishes in nursing homes and being kicked out of every practice space available. Everything Hyawatha does is DIY, from their own home-down recordings to the artwork and the music.

There is a different and distinct quality to Hyawatha's music. The emotion and intensity is all there in the music. Capturing the jazz madness of Miles Davis and twisting it with raw intensity of The Doors and Sonic Youth, Hyawatha is one of today's most exciting and ambitious bands. Black Collar Radio started in 2008 as an emerging, web-based underground radio broadcast, solely focused on the Philadelphia Tri-State region.

As of February 2011, BCR is expanding to include a wider range of cities and locations, in an effort to spread beyond this single geographic area.
