Mourning Electra is a three piece stemming from the bowels of a cover band crazed Philadelphia and a small metal-oid town of Sanatoga. Mourning Electra is Pat(guitar/vocals), Rob(bass), and Mark(drums). For the past 9 months we have had the pleasure of taking Mark under our wings to develop what is now and always will be...... Mourning Electra.

Mourning Electra sounds like Skin Yard playing Black Sabbath mixed with a pinch of Blue Oyster Cult. They play decidedly punkish music-- albeit at a slower pace with a blistering jagged guitar style and strident lyrics. Their musical influences include: drugs, the Stooges, weekly world news, shitty childhoods, early Nirvana, Zeppelin, Sabbath, Big Black, The Beatles,The Melvins, thrift stores, fraggle rock, mr. rogers neighborhood, public television, hard rock, punk rock.

Mourning Electra has played with such bands as Slumlord, American Speedway, Jumpship, The Boils, Year Long Disaster, Karma to Burn, Backwoods Payback, and countless other local acts, as well as opening for punk rock legends, The Germs, at the Trocadero Theatre in Philadelphia.

In their short span, they have recorded a 5 song demo at Ground Control Studios(now defunct), have regularly broadcast karts on college radio. We have even graced the corporate airwaves of 94.1 WYSP Loud and Local. The band is quickly gaining confidence as a live act after finishing a 10 day tour of far off places like Chicago, Columbus, Cincinatti-Oh, Louisville, Greenville-Nc, DC, and even Tennessee. With a stunning explosive live show of prat falls and body writhing, their music has been well received and continues to win people over on tour as well as becoming a hometown favourite.
