Riotgod began as an idea in 2006, discussed between drummer Bob Pantella and bassist Jim Baglino, both currently of Monster Magnet. They agreed to create a new band that would express their particular musical spirit. There would be no draining search, no extensive auditions: only two people were on the list of possible accomplices. When guitarist Garrett Sweeny and vocalist Sunshine were invited, quickly agreeing to participate in 2007, the group was officially formed and the name RiotGod was chosen.
A complex array of personal musical influences and abilities was assembled -- within a short period of time the result was a 15 song CD and a tight live show, complete with unique visual effects. The group spent 2008 refining their sound upon the stages of the Midway, John and Peter's, Asbury Lanes, the Stone Pony, and other fine establishments.
